I wonder if anyone has considered the danger posed by thousands of leaves drifting across the road in the autumn?

It’d look nice, but for Lichfield District Council to suggest spending over half of the £190k on trees for motorists to drive past show how out of touch with the town they really are.

This is a request for over half of the available funding for planting trees ! Whilst i am sure they will in time look pretty there are much more important things to spend this money on.

The planting of 110 specimen trees in areas of highway land alongside the A5190 Miners Way.

The planting will radically improve the visual amenity of the road and will provide a more attractive route into/out of Burntwood for the thousands of people who use the road every day.  The planting will define the boundary between the semi natural environment of Chasewater Country Park and the industrial development of  the outskirts of Burntwood.

This substantial number of new trees will also ensure the sustainability of Lichfield Districts Civic tree stock (linking the Burntwood Avenues Project with the wider aspirations of Lichfield District).

The project will complement and link to the planting already achieved by The Burntwood Avenues Project on Milestone Way.  The planting will be undertaken with a single species (London Plane) in order to present the maximum visual impact.

The planting will benefit all users of the area.
