To develop both Visual and performing Arts Spaces in the town of Burntwood for Lichfield District, showcasing the artistic abilities of the whole community. The core of this development will feature a permanent exhibit from The Wedgwood Museum, which is refreshed at least three times per annum.

The Arts Space will be run by students to the highest exhibition standards – it will be the students’ responsibility to co-ordinate this process with support and training from Wedgwood and other organisations.

It is anticipated that at least 5 exhibitions of varying length that feature the work of local artists will be showcased each year. This development will break new ground in the way that galleries/museums operate and it is likely that the Burntwood Arts Space will receive national and international press coverage.

This visual arts facility will be complemented by a Performing Arts and Conference facility, remodelled for community use.

We plan to build a multipurpose community venue, with associated facilities (toilets, catering, bar etc) together with additional match day accommodation for spectators.

The main hall will be capable of accommodating up to 300 people for a conference or event. It will also be used for activities such as keep fit and dance programmes, local art events and exhibitions.

There will also be 4 smaller meeting room spaces (capable of seating 15 people) which can also be used as classrooms. the overall objective is to provide a sustainable facility that generates income through commercial use to subsidise community activities with open access for all.

The facility will result in local job creation, cultural and commercial activity, raising the profile of the Club and the area.

This is a new service designed to improve upon existing transport arrangements for older people with mobility problems. These services rely on a mixture of hired in minibuses and taxis which are not always fully suitable for the needs of the client group (60+).

Burntwood has also been selected for the trial because of the problems some local people are experiencing in accessing the new Health Centre and the planned relocation of GP surgeries.

The Project will also be used to trial a dial and ride scheme. The trial will be monitored by a local partnership led by SCC.

If the scheme is successful then the scope to replicate it elsewhere will be explored.

The aims of the Project are:

To address current gaps in public transport;

Provide an appropriate specification of vehicle to meet all needs;

Trial of a dial and ride scheme.

Our plan is to continue to refurbish our Theatre by updating the audio visual systems in this facility.

Currently the Theatre offers tiered seating, a stage area with lighting, stage curtains, a drop down screen, a sound system, ICT/broadband access and a control room.

Three years ago we updated the theatre flooring and seating and we now want to continue with this refurbishment project. This new refurbishment will improve our current provision by updating audio visual facilities to meet varied community needs.

Most users require modern flexible ICT, projection and sound systems and we aim to provide such facilities. The Theatre is available by all ages, sexes and ethnic groups. It can used for both formal events and informal use.

It is available virtually every evening after 5pm and during the weekend. It is easily accessible to all (including disabled access) with extensive parking facilities.

Burntwood Bite Size is a valuable community resource which has proven to be pivotal to both young people and the wider community, evidenced by its current extensive usage and profile in the Burntwood community.

The proposal is to augment current provision taking into account current community use by improving future accessibility to the provision by young people and the wider community, including those identifying as having a disability.

By providing internet access to all users including those with disabilities we seek opportunities for future projects for example intergenerational projects.

This project will address the continuing and identified needs of young people and the wider community in actively participating in developing educative, creative and rewarding activities, engendering community responsibility and community cohesion.
